The City of Faribault is currently in the process of creating a master plan for downtown Faribault. The draft Downtown Master Plan and corresponding images are a result of public engagement, collaboration with key stakeholders, and the integration of Vision 2040. The plan celebrates the historic structures in Downtown Faribault and supports the active local businesses.
New park and open space connects the Straight River to the Downtown and provides greater recreation opportunities. These spaces become destinations within the Downtown and bring more people to the area. Central Avenue is an important connection and supports many of the historic structures. New streetscape improvements make Central Avenue more pedestrian focused and safer for everyone. Proposed development opportunities along the river and near the library creates opportunity for complimentary businesses and housing downtown while supporting the connection the Straight River. Green routes also provide stronger connections from the Downtown to the river. These proposed improvements work together to create a thriving, resilient Downtown Faribault.
